On the way down to White Sands I stopped at a BLM managed site boasting over 21,000 rock art petroglyphs. It seemed that every rock face had a drawing. Here are few of my favorites.
Road Trip Part 2 – White Sands, New Mexico
October 29th, 2010 in PhotographyI was completely out of touch for a couple of days, but I’m back home safe and sound. The trip was absolutely amazing, more than I had hoped for; Spanish Pueblo Missions from 1690, Petroglyphs from a thousand years before that and of course my real destination White Sands. I haven’t had time to even look at all my images but here is a quick teaser… more soon.
A Serious Case of Wanderlust – Road Trip Part 2 – New Mexico
October 25th, 2010 in PhotographyI’m really not sure where this wanderlust came from, but I can’t seem to control it! After 18 days on the road driving through New England and the Adirondacks, I’m off again. Actually stayed home for over two weeks so give me a little credit. I didn’t even have a chance to finish and post the New England trip images yet. There is a long winter ahead for that I guess.
I have been wanting to photograph at White Sands, New Mexico for quite awhile. The summer is way too hot and the Fall is the perfect time. So I drove most of the day in 30 to 40 mph winds to get down here. Hopefully the weatherman is correct and things will calm down tommorow when I get to the sands. It’s 11 hours one way from Denver so maybe this will cure the wanderlust!
I stopped at Fort Union today to stretch my legs. Pretty cool old adobe ruins. This was once the largest fort in the Southwest and protected travellers along the Santa Fe trail from the Apaches.
